I would like to find out more about your classes/timetable/enrolment process?

Can I just take a look or show up @ the studio?

No. Our studio is not open usual business hours "9-5" and our reception is not always attended to. Our teachers are most likely in a class. To arrange enrolment or any trial bookings they must be pre-arranged via email and our online booking system. We have very limited spaces left in all classes across the timetable, therefore we need to check availability is available for the class you wish to enrol or book a trial in.

Do you take enrolments all year?

No, our enrolment period for Primary & High School are primarily Terms 1 & 2 for most classes.

Why?

1. Our classes book out and reach full capacity.

2. Our students start to work towards showcases, performances and concerts.

3. Our acro and circus students are well and truly on their way to progressing through their level cards and assessment weeks.

4. To achieve the most out of your classes we recommend students enrolling for the full/most of the year.

Preschool & Dance Cirque enrolments are taken all year, subject to availability on our timetable.

Are classes capped?

Yes! It depends on the age group, class and how many teachers and assistants we have available allocated to the class.

A minimum of 5 students is required for classes to proceed.

If a class is cancelled due to being too small, Students will be encouraged to attend another day/time if the same or similar class is running.

How much are Fees? 

Depending how many weeks in the school term (same as the victorian school term) and what age category - fees range from $130-$230 per term./$14-$25 per lesson.

Are parents/guardian required to sew or supply costumes for the performances?

No. We have a costume hire fee families pay once for the year. The hire fee covers students costumes worn for end of year concert and any other performances they choose to perform in throughout the year.

Is there a uniform and is it compulsory?

Yes, we do have a uniform please refer to uniform page in 2024 information booklet or view via our website: geelongschoolofdance.com/uniform

We do not expect our new students to be in full uniform for their first lesson.

Do you sell second hand dance shoes?

Yes, we sell second hand shoes available at reception. Shoes price range $10-20 depending on style and condition.

Where can I find class times?

Do I have to re-enrol each term?

No. Once you enrol for 2023 your spot is secure and rolls over each term until we get to the end of the year. You can make any necessary changes to your enrolment by contacting us. (A new enrolment form is required for each new calendar year).

Do you offer trial classes?

Yes, we offer a trial lesson via booking. Please note: Trial lessons are only available in classes with availability and through certain periods of the year. Trial lessons must be pre-booked.

Do you offer a wait list?

Yes, if a class you have requested is booked out we have a wait list available. Our team will contact you via email/phone to let you know if and when a vacancy becomes available in the requested class and you will have 24 hours to accept the enrolment position.

If I miss a dance class may I attend a make up lesson?

Yes. A make up lesson can be booked subject to availability and if we have your class on an alternative day and time. Bookings must be made prior through email or call our office phone.

Do you have a End Of Year Concert?

Yes, absolutely! We LOVE concert time.

We offer Mid Year Showcase to our Primary & High School students held @ Sacred Heart College, Mcauley Hall.

Our End of Year concert is held @ Geelong Arts Centre for Primary & High School students.

Preschool dancers have a performance opportunity at the end of the year, concert is held @ a School Theatre.

Dance Cirque & Little Monkeys FAQ

Is there any pre-requisite to take a class?

No! Our classes will teach from first time beginners to work up

through a levelled program at their own pace.

What apparatus can you learn?

Trapeze, aerial silks and lyra as well as various strength, flexibility and balance elements on the floor.

Iā€™m enrolled in acro is it similar?

Acro & Circus work well together. Acro is learning tricks like

cartwheels, handstands, bridges, walk overs and circus is working

on tricks that involve apparatus (silks, lyra, trapeze) as well as

other circus arts such as juggling, hula hoops and many more.

Will circus students perform at GSOD concert events?

Yes!

Little Monkeys, our preschool circus program will have an end of year concert opportunity.

Dance Cirque our Primary & High School circus program will have a Mid Year & End of Year performance opportunity.
